Lukas Barth, aka Chawaqquq, of Basel, Switzerland, painter and musician, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2018, 26 Iyyar 5778.
Services were held on May 18, 2018 Wolfgottesacker in Basel.
Lukas Chawaqquq Barth is survived by his sons Lukas Abraham and Emanuel Barth with their families and the grand-daughter in Switzerland, his sisters and his brother in Switzerland, Belgium and Germany and his beloved wife in Switzerland.

At Allderdice, I considered Luke a good friend. We did many things together although I don't remember any other than the time he & I rode our bikes to Swickley in the rain. I knew Luke was from a famous Swiss theologian family, but no other details. I was pleased when he joined allderdice.com last year and am sorry I put off contacting him until I thought I might travel to Switzerland. It appears that Luke had a career as a musician and artist.

I didn't know Lukas, but suddenly our classmates seem to be leaving us with regularity. 72 just isn't that old anymore, which makes it surprising and more than a little sobering to read these death notices.

Luke and I had some good times together during our senior year. I remember him trying to teach me how to ski at Seven Springs. He was always cheerful and optimistic, and it is no surprise to me that he passionately pursued his dreams in music and art. I was hoping to see him again one of these days as he had invited me to visit Switzerland. His passing is so sad. May he rest in peace...
