Stuart Bluestone

College in CT. Law school in D.C. Public interest consumer and environmental law practice, 1972-1974. Federal agency energy litigator, 1974-1976. Traveled by backpack for 21 months through South America, Africa, Middle East and Europe, 1976-1978 (no, this was not a front for being a CIA agent; I was in the Coast Guard Reserves for 5 years as my way of avoiding the draft and Viet Nam). D.C. private law practice, 1978-1984. Married and then divorced in D.C., no kids, 1976-1984. Moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1984. Public law practice, mostly with the Attorney General's Office and the NM State Legislature. Focus on consumer protection, ethics in government and campaign finance reform issues.
Met Judy and daughter Tahlia in 1985, married Judy in 1987, son Darren born in 1988, and been living in New Mexico ever since. Enjoy being a dad and now Grandpa Blue, working on interesting public policy work issues and being actively involved in two nonprofits -- NM Environmental Law Center and NM Legal Aid. Still enjoying traveling a lot. Have had my share of old age stuff, but am happy to report playing tennis and golf at least once a week, hiking some and working out regularly.
Encourage all classmates to: 1) visit Santa Fe to cash in on my standing offer of at least one free margarita; and 2) catch a performance in NYC of the musical Avenue Q, now running for 10 years and since March 2012 featuring Darren Bluestone -- a recent Carnegie Mellon U. grad -- in the leading role.
